1st Faux Mercury Glass Project

image

Excuse the poor pic, too excited! I discovered that wadding up vinegar saturated paper towels and leaving them in the jars, swishing and shaking the jar worked great for achieving the mottled effect. I knew the jar mouths were too small for my hands, so I was prepared to use a paper towel covered brush handle to daub off the vinegar/water mix, but didn’t need it.
So, yep, it worked!!  Don’t want to brag, but I think these turned out pretty darn good.

I’d been putting this project off as I was a tad intimidated. As I’m not familiar with this type of spray paint, I wasn’t sure exactly how much wriggle room I’d have or how fast the paint dried in order to work with the vinegar/water mix. I was really afraid of messing up.

Turns out I had plenty of time. In fact, I could slow down and swish the paint around the jars, ensuring good coverage. To me the drier the paint the better the vinegar/water solution worked.

I know this isn’t earth shattering news and probably no one will read this, but I just had to write that next time I want to try something, I’m going to do it; not be overwhelmed or afraid of failing. I’ve had this spray paint since last year! So, go ahead! Just do it, as the saying goes. It can’t hurt to try and because I tried, I felt way more in control and was able to come up with my OWN way of doing something. I have this problem with a lot of things. The YouTube people I follow all say the same thing “just get in there and play.” It’s probably obvious to most normal people, but I’m far from that.

I’m sure I’m not the only person to have tried the paper towel thing, but it is MY discovery. YouTube and Pinterest are wonderful tools, but like tools you gotta use them or they’ll get frozen up, rusted. So I’m gonna just get in there and play around. I’ve got a ton of mixed media projects, stamping, and cardmaking things I’ve been pinning to try. That’s one of my problems is staying glued to tutorials.

Okay, gotta go. All I wanted to tell you about was the paper towel thing and somehow I got off track.

Now I gotta figure out what the hell I’m going to do with my new faux mercury glass. LOL! I don’t think I can even use them for candle holders as they’re either too tall or who knows what. I do know for a fact they’ll have to be sealed.

Thanks for reading! Sending you hugs and best wishes! 🙂

P.S.  I sprayed an antique type of gold inside the jars for a more realistic effect and boy that stuff dried way to fast! As I haven’t sealed them yet, I’m thinking of starting all over. This time I’ll alternate between the two, then spray with a much stronger vinegar mix.

Thanks again!

Chris

I wish you a beautiful day!

Black and white photography Today

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that today’s black and white photos are not that great? I’m seeing a big difference from yesteryear’s b&w compared to today’s.

Such as current b&w’s taken with, I assume digital cameras, are not as clear, not clearly defined, muddled. The subject appears to blend in to the background.

I see all of the b&w photos on Google Plus fine art photography and what could have been a most beautiful pic is ruined.

If you’ve got the time, compare old b&w’s with today’s modern digital HD version and see if I’m not right.

Has anyone noticed this? Surely I’m not the only one?

Okay, now, compare the pic above to today’s and hopefully you’ll see what I mean.

This has been bugging me for quite a while and just had to say/write something about it. I hope I followed the proper procedures as far as copyright and such goes.

Thanks for your time and maybe I’ll hear back from someone?

I wish you a beautiful day!

I surely have no business having a blog!

Somebody is handing blog sites out like candy. I’m still unsure of how I came to have my very own blog?!?

Below is my failed attempt at adding a blinkie. It’s a total accident that I’ve even heard of a blinkie. Wait! Is that “binkie” or “blinkie?” I’m pretty sure it’s BLINKIE! LOL!

The blinkie below I can assure you I installed with permission. Well, it seems I’m not as special as I’d like to think — they’re giving blinkies out to everyone.

I’ve been trying and trying to find instructions for setting up a blinkie. I’ve even searched this site for HELP! A person can’t find anything with a simple question like “how do I add/install a blinkie? Instead, I’m getting words like widgets, go to dashboard, blah, blah, blah …

This blogging thing is no fun and I think I’ll leave it to the professionals. Besides, all I wanted to blog about was me, my tirades, latest road rage episodes, what I think about this or that.

As I’m trying out arts and crafts, I thought maybe I’d share my highs and lows, successes and failures, is it difficult, can anyone do it? I just wanted to share from the view of a real person with a real grasp on my mood for that particular day. Like, I’m not farting rainbows. I have more bad days than not. I’m not the fake it till you make it kinda girl either.

I guess I’m so good at being negative, I never realize it. I think I’m getting negativity and being realistic mixed up?

Anyway, if you’ve nothing better to do than read “My Blog,” may God bless and keep you. Hey, to make things interesting maybe we can interact with each other! Now that sounds exciting! Ask me anything! Use my blog to talk about anything! Better still, get your own blog and we’ll blog back and forth with each other!

Thanks for reading. If you want to know about crafting, painting, mixed media, cardmaking, papercrafting, check out the experts cause that’s where I’ll be;-)

What Have I Done Now?

Oh, wow! I think I have a URL? Like a website? So, it seems I’m blogging – wait! Huh? How’d I get here? I can’t write. I don’t even know how to write without using “I” every few words! Heck, even my resume is in first person.

Well? Uhm, oops!?! I have wanted to try my hand at blogging. I’m able to spell and use spell check, I can type, and I have a TON of things to say or write about. But, now is not the time as it’s already after 2 p.m.,and I’m barely dressed.

Thanks to whoever is reading, if anyone is reading, and I’ll come back later. I’ve got a lot of errands and crap to do.

Maybe, if you’re curious, I’ll explain “wannabe.” Adiós …over and out – later! (•¿•)
